Scientific Communication Services: Illustration, Animation, and Game Design

I am a scientific communicator and designer specialized in making complex research clear, engaging, and accessible to non-specialist audiences both inside and outside academia. I bring scientific rigor and interdisciplinary expertise to every project, having collaborated across multiple scientific fields. I create high-fidelity scientific illustrations, dynamic 3D animations, and impactful game-based learning (GBL) solutions focused on sustainability, education, and research impact. I offer highly specialized services across three core areas:

Scientific Illustration & Data Visualization

Leverage my academic background to ensure the scientific integrity of your static visuals. I transform complex data and concepts into accurate, compelling imagery designed to elevate your publications, proposals, and educational materials.

Journal Covers and Graphical Abstracts

Designing eye-catching, conceptual images that summarize the essence of your research for journal table of contents, social media promotion, and impactful cover art.

Data Presentation

Optimizing experimental data plots (e.g., spectroscopy, microscopy, kinetics) for clarity, legibility, and visual impact. Services include formatting, color-coding, and layout design for figures used in research articles.

Scientific Diagrams

Creating technically accurate, custom diagrams and schematics that clearly communicate complex processes, relationships, and data across multiple scientific disciplines.

Infographics and Posters

Developing narrative-driven infographics that explain complex scientific data for external partners, such as government, NGO, and public engagement campaigns.

Grant Proposals and Research Visuals

Creating high-impact conceptual diagrams, flowcharts, and mechanistic illustrations necessary to secure research funding and clearly communicate proposed methods to review panels.

Educational Animation & Motion Graphics

I specialize in creating engaging, scientifically accurate animated narratives and motion graphics for diverse educational platforms. I design dynamic content that clarifies complex mechanisms, enhances learner retention, and supports sophisticated scientific communication initiatives.

Scientific Explainer Videos

Production of short, narrative-driven animations designed to simplify complex theories or phenomena (e.g., chemical reaction pathways, nanostructure dynamics, engineering principles, reaction kinetics) for various audiences.

Conference and Presentation Visuals

Designing custom, high-resolution animated elements (loops, transitions, key visuals) to elevate scientific talks and presentations, ensuring a polished, modern, and memorable delivery of information.

Research Promotion and Grant Animation

Creating visually impactful motion graphics for grant applications and publicizing new research findings. This includes visually summarizing methodology, results, and potential impact for quick review by non-specialist decision-makers.

Data Storytelling with Motion

Using animated charts, graphs, and maps to visualize changes over time (e.g., climate data, epidemiology, material degradation). This ensures effective, linear communication of complex time-series data.

Game-Based Learning Design

I specialize in the design and visualization of Game-Based Learning (GBL) solutions. I translate complex scientific concepts, particularly in sustainability and research, into engaging, goal-oriented interactive experiences proven to drive behavioral change and deep comprehension.

Learning Objective Mapping and Game Mechanics

Strategic planning of game mechanics (e.g., resource management, simulation, role-playing) that are directly mapped to specific scientific or educational learning objectives. By applying Intrinsic Integration, I ensure the game design reinforces the intended scientific concepts.

Prototyping and Storyboarding for Serious Games

Developing wireframes, user journeys, and detailed storyboards that outline the game's flow and narrative structure. This stage ensures the game design is scientifically sound and maximizes user engagement before development begins.

Interactive Data and Simulation Graphics

Designing and integrating graphics for in-game simulations (e.g., laboratory experiments, climate models, resource cycles) that provide real-time, accurate feedback based on the user's choices and the underlying scientific rules.

Sustainability and Climate Action Games

Developing GBL modules specifically aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (e.g., Clean Energy, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) to educate corporate, NGO, and public audiences on complex environmental systems and behavioral solutions.

My Collaborative Workflow

My collaboration process is designed for scientific integrity, clarity, and efficiency. As a trained researcher and a seasoned communicator, I don't just execute visuals—I act as a scientific consultant throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring the final deliverable is accurate, effective, and optimized for your specific research goals.

Step 1. Discovery & Scientific Briefing

The initial conversation. We discuss your research goals, target audience (academic, public, student), platform (journal, game, lecture), and budget. I leverage my scientific background to ask targeted questions and confirm the project's scientific objective before any design begins.

Step 2. Conceptualization & Quote

I develop a project proposal, including a clear statement of work (SOW), visual concept sketches or storyboards, estimated timeline, and a quote.

Step 3. Design & Review Rounds

This is the execution phase. We conduct regular updates and schedule specific scientific review checkpoints to ensure accuracy. Sketching, drafting and prototyping verifies scientific integrity and integration of learning goals.

Step 4: Final Delivery & Asset Handover

All high-resolution files are delivered. This includes native source files (upon request/agreement) and output formats optimized for your specific medium (e.g., print-ready for journals, web-optimized MP4 for e-learning, organized asset folders for game developers).
